Desert Expedition [Southern Kalimdor, patch 5.4] Wowscr14

With the unstable peace with the Horde in place, the Grand Alliance seeks to use this down time to expand it's influence and to of course gain new resources, specially on Kalimdor now with the loss of Theramore.
Because of that, the 157th "Wild Tempest" Company has been commanded to sail to southern Kalimdor, into the desert and mostly lawless, rough and very dangerous lands there. To scout, locate and secure anything of potential worth.

The sail there due the meddling of pirates proved troublesome, yet succesfull. Now arrived at the Goblin town of Gadgetzan, Tanaris, the Company can begin on attempting to complete the many tasks set for them.

After having overcame the long and harsh journey from evergreen, the tempest finally reached the goblin made oasis. Orders are to:

  • Never leave the camp unless allowed by an officer which will have to oversee your operation may he or she approve to you, and may he or she not be able to follow, a report must be given of what you have done, at least. Otherwise you only leave the walls of a few yards away.

  • The tempest will provide support with your purchases in the camp, but avoid to abuse it, goblins never lose the chance to damage the alliance army economy.

  • Do not engage hostilities with the locals unprovoked.

  • Always bring with you a flask of fresh water and avoid heavy armor while in the desert. This will apply for the whole duration of this campaign while under the influence of the desert's hostile climate.

Camp Additions:

  • The alliance's boat StormbringerII is currently docket at Gadgetzan docks, still begin repaired after the battles and the accidents that occurred.

Tanaris: Rescuing Operation

Desert Expedition [Southern Kalimdor, patch 5.4] Wowscr20

Date: 10/01/31 sdp

The Briefing:

Once called to group at Gadgetzan plaza, the Commander informed us of the company mission once again, and on how we would achieve such on that day:

A group of explorers had found a vein of precius minerals in the vast desert. However, scouts have been reported that they were captured by the local sand trolls, and that they would perish without aid, their precious life and intel gone with them. The company took their rescue on it's shoulder and prepared.

Soldiers Present
Commander Keag Strongbrew
Sergeant Killan Roque
Sergeant Shiiri
Corporal Nihilia
Private Albert Crownwell
Private Glalana
Private Yavari
Recruit Cathal Ackerman
Recruit Svanhilda Strongbrew
Recruit Tobias Grimm

The Mission:

It was decided to infiltrate the troll hideout trough a stealth operation, taking advantage of the night and the troll's focus on their dark ritual. We disposed of their sentries easily and without much trouble, including the mummies raised with their dark and foul necromancy.

Once having reached the main plaza of the troll city, we came across the citizens of the tribe who were performing the ritual and cheering on the explorer's terror. We engaged into combat against the large crowd under the lead of Sergeant Shiiri.

The citizens themselves scattered in panic as we cut trough a few of them, making our way to the altar barely managing to prevent the sacrifice, which were overseen by the troll's highest warriors and authorities. They threw poison, weapons and scorpions at us, but little could it do against the might of the light's army, which burned their souls out of their bodies in a matter of minutes.

The victory however were not yet fully achieved, as the city roared enraged at our actions and the rest of their warriors were quick to prepare and chase us. We took the weak and fainted explorers on our shoulders and climbed the mountain behind the altar itself. Had we gone trough the way we came from the trollish horde would have slaughtered us, surely.

We kept on climbing the mountain and outran the trolls who were throwing weapons at us, with some of us begin wounded, still managing to make it back to the entrance of the city in which we ended up begin detected during our scape in the open desert.

The trolls were swift and used to the environment, hastly catching up on us as their weapon further wounded our peers. Trough perseverance and faith in the light had, however, managed to make it to Gadgetzan before they could engage in melee. They did not dared to attack the goblin outpost, but they could still shout out loud their hatred and resentment.

Mission Conclusion and comments:

  • We then seen to our wounds and secured the explorers, which will be questioned on the minerals they found. We consider the operation as successful.

  • From now on i trust the sand trolls will actively attempt to seek and destroy our soldiers after we had busted their heretical ceremony.

  • Albert Crownwell went against the orders, shouting out loud almost busting our stealth operation, and making loud noises with the corpses he mercilessly mauled. He dismissed the officer's concerns and the Commander issued latrine duty on him.

Tanaris: Re-Stationament operation

Desert Expedition [Southern Kalimdor, patch 5.4] Wowscr21

Date: 12/01/31 sdp

The Briefing:

Due to high amount of debts caused by untraceable transactions, the company had to leave Gadgedzan under the "invitation" of the locals. We packed our supplies onto a caravan with the escort of dwarven soldiers.

Soldiers Present

Sergeant Killan Roque
Corporal Nihilia
Lance-Corporal Salara
Private Swatti
Recruit Iroh

After the commander had departed ahead of us aboard of the gryphons, our group went to escort the caravan for a few yards, until we noticed that the wind started to pick up abnormally fast. It ended up trapping us into a sandstorm.

Our first reaction after we had realized of the situation, was to hide behind the golem and get protection from the winds. Yet little was accomplished as the storm scattered us all around, the carvan long since out of our sight, only hint of it's location screams from the distance, presumably our escort.

I personally had got myself trapped into the sand for a short while, for then grasp on the environment  in order not to fly away like a leaf on the wind once again. I noticed a flare on the distance, shot by the sergeant, and i immediately began to follow on it after the wind had settled down a little bit. Yet it was very hard for me to see and could not find eachothers trough the yelling, following our voices. Lelara and swatti however were still missing.

We tied each others to a rope, and later found private swatti, trapped under the sand and inside his skygolem. After we had removed some weight from the machine he finally managed to get it free and by extension, himself.

We then went to search for the lost caravan, only to find what was left of it. The cargo completely destroyed, the supplies lost, our escort wiped out and buried under meters of sand. It was at this point that Salara found us, reuniting the Wild Tempest team. After the sandstorm died out, we reached the outpost without further issues.

Mission Conclusion:

  • In the caravan that the storm destroyed, we had most of our supplies: ammunition; water; food; medicines and the minerals we found. All scattered by the wind, along with the finding the Explorers trusted on us for delivery. About three dwarfs died in the operation. The mission was a failure.

  • The explorer's league has expressed mixed feelings on our failure, saying out loud that they will be more wary in trusting the 157th unit in the future.

After a not so smooth travel from Gadgetzan, the company reached the explorer's outpost, settling down with what little they could save from the storm.

Orders are to not leave the camp beyond a certain distance (few yards) and to not consume too many resources, considering the losses we recently endured.

Camp Additions:

  • Gryphons and gyrocopters are avaiable for emercency situations and/or scouting. The explorers may share their medicines with us if needed.

The Mission:

During our way to the site, we not only spotted reliquary activity as foretold, but also their magic, which we ultimately became aware off when we met an arcane barrier on our path.

After first analyzing the obstacle, we were immediately ambushed by a group of blood elves that mercilessly aimed strike on our turned backs. Fortunately, the company successfully fighted them away, while i dispelled the barrier away with the aid of the light.

We proceed further into the cave, meeting further resistance in the form of spells and sorcery that hindered to the ground some of our soldiers, the responsible soon to be recognized: an arcanist of the reliquary. We fought with all we had, but sadly, he still managed to brutally wound some of our soldiers before we finally killed the malicious entity.

Date: 17/01/31 sdp

The Briefing:

After a swift reunion, the commander informed us that according to the scout's reports, pirates on the coast had stolen our supplies along other riches. They had, however, crashed on shore, and established a perimeter in protection of their loot. This was the same group that attacked us on our way to Gadgedzan, and thus it was seen fit to re-pay them a visit along with the objective to recover what was stolen.

Soldiers Present

Corporal Nihilia
Lance-Corporal Mineral Coppersocket
Lance-Corporal Salara "Dead Eye"
Private Liam Samuels
Private Stormy
Private Yavari
Recruit Cathal Ackerman
Recruit Howl Duskmane
Last Chancer Doowor Darkblood

After the briefing we made haste for the shore and found the pirates right where our scouts suggested. They were cheering and drinking foul serums of Naaru knows what poison, lost in their malicious affairs, when we ambushed them.

It wasn't hard to wipe them out from the coast, them begin drunk and taken off guard by our swift revenge. Things went downhill however when they took hold on their cannons.

At first they didn't managed to use them to help their minions while we easily cut trough them, but after a while they began to take us down. I for instance was taken by an explosion nearby and severely wounded. I was carried by Cathal and carried to follow the company on it's assault. Little else i know of those moments, i heard shooting, explosions and fighting after i regained my awareness nearby the ship relict.

I noticed Yavari got shot, and so i asked to be put down in order for me to help her out. My leg however disagreeing with me while the pirates charged at us with all they had left. However, the company was successful at keeping them distracted while i reached for the wounded with the help of Salara.

After i used all the strength and the power i had left in my broken vessel for remove the bullet from yavari and healing her, i passed out. I woke up in the company's encampment, unawareof what happened next, but it appears everyone made it back to safety.

During the operation, a last chancer death knight by the name of Doowor was recruited in our ranks.

Mission Conclusion:

  • The company managed to scavenge food and riches from the pirates hideout, aiding in our efforts of making up for the losses suffered, and the pirates were successfully dealt with. The mission was a success.

Un'goro - Silithus: Saving private Mahodiir

Desert Expedition [Southern Kalimdor, patch 5.4] Wowscr26
Date: 25/01/31 sdp

The Briefing:

Private Mahodiir had gone missing during our way to un'goro crater. This operation was a rescue mission for retrieve our lost comrade.

Soldiers Present

Commander Keag Strongbrew
Corporal Nihilia
Corporal Xildon Tinkertron
Lance-Corporal Salara "dead eye"
Private Arasali
Private Elrua
Private Yavari
Recruit Cathal Ackerman
Recruit Howl Duskmane
The Mission:

After our debrief, we ventured into the jungle heading to where the private was last saw. After minor issues with the environment we managed to locate a secret tunnel that presumed to be the escape route of the kidnappers. At this point we already began to notice unsettling movements in the jungle, but we pressed on.

At the end of the tunnel our worst nightmare became true: Our comrade was dragged into a Silithid hive, full of long tunnels and terrible creatures that immediately began to swarm around us. We disposed of them and entered the nest.

Moving in the deep and complex construct labyrinth, we got bugs attacking at us from all over, wounding many soldiers, the captain included, but we pressed on going as deep as we could. Eventually reaching the queen chamber.

The queen proved herself to be one of the most terrible foes the company ever faced, threatening to kill us all would not be for the efforts of our brave soldiers who stood proud and tall at the ferocity of the beast, eventually vanquishing as Xildon finished it with ferocious strikes that tore the queen from the inside out. The commander had to be secured with the aid of Yavari powers as he was critically wounded. The command of the operation felt on Nihilia and Xildon.

The hive began to collapse into madness as the queen died, only giving us a few moments before we could find and save mahodiir from one of the cocoons he felt prey into. His leg was broken, so we used parts of the queen thick carapace for improvise a splint.

As the bugs were busy falling berserk on each-others, the 157th unit Wild Tempest successfully escaped the hive with their recovered comrade, completing the mission once returned to the camp almost in one piece.

Mission Conclusion:

  • Mahodiir is currently recovering from poison and starvation at the camp, making our mission a success.

  • Our commander however is in a much worse shape. His fate uncertain. May the light and the Naaru have mercy of his brave attempt to save a comrade.

  • Xildon have proven an unexpected bravery and skill in killing off the queen of the hive, a medal is recommended to be assigned.

Un'goro: Scouting the wilds

Desert Expedition [Southern Kalimdor, patch 5.4] Un_gor11

Date: 28/01/31 sdp

The Briefing:

Scouts have reported the presence of rich mineral veins that could be of great use for the grand alliance. However, it wasn't possible to actually inspect the vein up-close due the aggressive wilds. Thus the 157th unit Wild Tempest were tasked to confirm the objective and leave it to the miners. Due the commander conditions, the mission was trusted in me (Corporal Nihilia). A mercenary were hired serve as guide for lead us to the place.

Soldiers Present

Corporal Nihilia
Lance-Corporal Mineral Coppersocket
Lance-Corporal Salara "dead eye"
Private Elrua
Private Yavari
Recruit Cathal Ackerman
Recruit Hariel
Recruit Svanhilda Strongbrew
Mercenary Jalz

The Mission:

It didn't took much for us to meet problems. After few minutes of exploring we came across a pack of beasts that trampled over some of our soldiers while escaping from unidentified predators right where we wanted to go. They however didn't lingered as we gathered ourselves up for proceed further. With however an eerie feeling of begin watched.

After a while we reached Terror Run as intended, only to find the alliance scouts and much of the wilderness mercilessly slaughtered and scattered all over in a pool of gore. Obviously something very hostile was the cause of the early disorders. We ignored the warnings for the sake of the operation and found the vein. I have personally marked the place on the map for the grand alliance to harvest the vein they were looking for. As the objective was completed, i ordered to retreat back to the camp.

Suddenly, an horrific scream of terror pierced the silence of the jungle like a sword, begin a survivor of the scouts, i presume. He was chased by a gigantic devilsaur, along with two other beasts. As it was impossible for us to save him, i ordered the Tempest to stay together up a cliff Jalz led us to for avoid it's senses, and to hope it wouldn't see us. It was at this point that recruit Svanhilda charged the devilsaur on her own accord, way before i could react. I immediatley ordered her to come back after she taunted the devilsaur, and after some reluctance, she came back. The beasts however followed her to our location, starting a rather clumsy chase as we escaped further up.

Thanks to the environment and some improvisation, we managed to keep the devilsaur busy long enough for Yavari to cast a spell that instantly killed it as Svanhilda rescued Coppersocket from it's fangs.

The soldiers were startled by the event, and i insisted that we should come back as Jalz led us back to the way we came from. However, yet -another- devilsaur crossed our way, but not a devilsaur like any other. This was "one eye", a particularly ferocious creature veteran of many hunters that tried to kill it invain. Jalz tried to cover us up with a way that were close to the steam pools, but it was of no use. The beast saw us, and we were cornered. Fearing that an escape would attract even more devilsaurs, i ordered to attack it, but my confidence was soon punished as the beast countered our attacks without effort or wounds.

I then ordered the retreat, but the soldiers kept on attacking, which led us to begin harmed further. We tried our best to stay united and safe the wounded, but we still got scattered as our attempts to kill it only bothered and slowed it down. Svanhilda managed to blind it, which gave us some extra chances, yet we had little hope to make it, as i again screamed and almsot implored the soldiers to retreat.

Svanhilda decided to act as a bait for get it away from us in our escape, ignoring Yavari was right next to her. The devilsaur bit her in a pool of her own blood as Svanhilda herself ran away chased by the beast.

I immediately ordered to Jalz to retrieve Yavari, which she did. I trusted the task on her and fled away with a shocked and immobilized Salara back to the camp.
I returned to the camp, exhausted. I took some breath back into me before i came back to see if the others made it. To my great relief, jalz just then made it back to the camp. Yavari however had a very large and deep wound threatening her life. I implored both the Naaru and the light to take everything that was left into me for save her life, and to my joy, my plea was answered, closing the wound and fixing her broken begin. After a short while, i fainted.

Mission Conclusion:

  • Svanhilda has been the direct cause of many risks we took as she ignored my authority entirely. Elrua lost her tabulk and Yavari almost died as this dwarf had no concern for either her own or our comrade's lives. A punishment should be given without remorse.

  • I gave copies of my maps to the alliance emissaries and the exploring league, they will take over from there. The company have accomplished the task.

  • Jalz the mercenary has been a major asset in the mission. Providing us routes and knowledge. I advice to hire her again in the future.

  • I have yet to receive reports from Cathal and Hariel. may they fail to return the camp another rescue team should be considered to be made.

Scouting the Camp

Soldiers present:
- Lance Corporal Elrua
- Lance Corporal Paia Cuddlefork
- Private Ara
- Private Lelara Frosthoof
- Private Yavari
- Recruit Hariel

Briefing:
We were informed that we was to scout around the encampment for any possible dangers to our current location. Myself and Paia was placed in charge by the Commander.

The Mission:
We started patrol going around the encampment, scanning for any signs of movements. The Sand caused quite a bit of difficulty, but we managed. One our second rotation, Hariel and Paia's scanner picked up on a strange presence in the East, which I setn Hariel to scout in his Feral form. The rest of us followed behind at a slow pace. The ground beneath became loose and Hariel, Paia and the Knight fell into small holes, to be later attacked by Slithids. We defeated them with ease.

Following drag marks, we came to another, separate encampment, which was not of our own Company. I sent Paia, Hariel and the Knight to investigate the campe, believing two hard to see individuals and a heavy armoured Knight would be suitable. They returned with reports of Cultists imprisoning and killing each other. It was my decision to leave them be, due to being greatly outnumbered.

Conclusion/Other Notes:
- The soldier's, though well behaved, did not appear to heed to my warnings, when I requested for them to be wary and to ready their weapons, in case of a possible attack.
- Hariel displayed good scouting skills, when asked. Though he gets distracted easily.
- Ara showed initiative when requesting to set up basic defenses around the camp.

- Private Ara
- Private Lelara Frosthoof
- Private Yavari
- Recruit Hariel

Briefing:
After a restless night, we were surprised to discover three groups of undead swarms heading towards our encampment. We took to arms to defend ourselves.

The Mission:
The Commander began our defense by creating a small barrier using one of the tables, requesting for the explosive kegs. This proved successful, as they destroyed a good amount of the enemy lines. We managed to continue to hold the undead at bay, with the help of Hariel, his casting ability proving useful as he raised a vine-type catapult to launch the other kegs at once. As the undead advanced further, I charged into the front-lines to assist Ara in holding back the largest of the groups. This proved useful, until a flanking team began to drive their way in. Through quick reactions, I was able to prevent them getting too far.

The battle continued for several, long minutes. Hariel assisted my attempts at holding off the flanking attack, showing great skill in his combat ability, with displays of impressive teamwork.

The enemies soon died down, only to release a small army of Slithids from their corpses. They were dispatched with ease, allowing us to lick our wounds and bolster our defenses once more

Conclusion:
- Hariel continues to show that he is a good asset to the Company, his spell casting, though limited, providing a necessary advantage. He has been a great help in the past two days.

- Lelara appears to be challenging my authority with comments to be noted as rude and disrespectful.

- Over-all, a success.

Date: 11/02/31 sdp

The Briefing:

Captain Strongbrew sent the troops out to secure a large deposit of silithyst, keeping the area safe for excavation purposes. He sent the troops out under the leadership of Corporal Tinkertron.

Soldiers Present

Corporal Xildon X.T. Tinkertron
Lance-Corporal Elrua
Lance-Corporal Mineral Coppersocket
Private Arasali
Private Lelara Frosthoof
Private Yavari
Recruit Hariel
Recruit Terra Moonstone

The Mission:

Upon nearing the silithyst site, the troops were overcome by a sudden sandstorm. A vortex appeared in the midst of the troops, sucking in Private Arasali and Recruit Moonstone. Recruit Moonstone managed to escape quickly; Private Arasali, however, got wounded by what were presumably teeth before being pulled out by Private Frosthoof.
As its prey got snatched out, the insect – presumably some species of antlion, though enormous in size and amount of legs – burrowed out of the sand and began an assault. It was eventually brought down through an offensive from both in- and outside.

Mission Conclusion:

- Both Lance-Corporal Coppersocket and Private Arasali were injured during the fight. Therefore, I thought it better to return to camp.
- Though disgruntled, Senior Excavator Anvilbelly agreed with my assessment. The mission is postponed.

With most soldiers of the Tempest finding themselves in ruins after a violent, and quite desperate attack of a wicked alliance of Twilight and Silithud renmants, the Company found itself forced to retreat back to Stormwind earlier then initially planned.. Allowing the soldiers a moment to recover after this succesfull campaign with quite the tragic ending. They had no idea either that it'd be their last known as the 157th "Wild Tempest" Company.. Who knows what will happen next?
