Crash on the Frozen Waste

Damned 4th [6.0.2, Frostfire Ridge] Wowscr11

Sailing for days, perhaps week since their escape from The Dark Portal, Wild Tempest was aboard a stolen Iron Horde vessel. Pursued relentlessly by the Iron Horde Navy, the boat escaped from a patrol by steering into fog, but getting lost in the process. The air had been getting colder for days now. The Tempest journey came to an end as the ship saw land to soon to stop due to the fog, crashing into rock and ice.

With a biting wind blowing from the sea and exposing the Tempest to hypothermia, the Soldiers and the few others with them exit the ship and set camp in a nearby cave.

Damned 4th [6.0.2, Frostfire Ridge] 9f57e610

A salvage mission was put into action, to recover what possible from the ship. A few soldiers also went to hunt out for wood.

Supplies found and stored in the cave was:
-Some scrap metal
-A large flag
-A small stack of firewood

They Found Us...

Damned 4th [6.0.2, Frostfire Ridge] ABtLNB2

In the evening, a day after Wild Tempest crash on Frostfire Ridge, a Iron Horde Juggernaught arrive to the crash site. To much for the Tempest in it state to fight, the company conjured a magical storm and fled in the cover of a blizzard. Suffering from both cold and from fire, as crossing a river of lava where a couple of Fire Elementals made their home. The Unit yet made past the river, and into a cave (after first collapsing the cave entrance by accident, then dig a hole in the rocks through)

Wild Tempest is currently stationed in a Cavern close to a stream of lava.

-One of the walls (behind a large rock) have been 'melted' and an Iron Pipe made of Scrap metal sticks through. Hot springwater drips through the pipe, whenever a wooden cork is not stuck in to stop the flow.
-The entrance leading to the cave is largely covered by Large Boulders.
-Food is short. It will last 3 days max from now (24.11).
-Wood is short. Campfire was made of broken crates.
-Scrap Metal and some Herbs was carried with the group.

Note: Entering the Cavern will require a Warlock, a Priest and a Warlock. Rocks block the entrance. They can not be walked through, but they can Blink through, so a Priest can Lifegrip (themselves) through, wait for Lifegrip CD, Lifegrip a Warlock and summon people inside. Warrior Intervene may also work, just as Rogue Shadowstep.

Alternate way of getting through that any class can use: You'll need a mushroom chair, darkmoon tiger, fishing chair, or something else similar.
Go to the entrance, and place it in this location, hugging the invisible wall (exact location isnt as important):
Spoiler:
Use your item, get off it, and you can simply walk past the rubble like it was air.
Same method works for getting out, but know that the mushroom chair at least cant be used inside. I used darkmoon tigers, which worked fine.

Also note that you can use other peoples' tigers/mushroom chairs/whatever as well, so if you don't have one, you can ask a guildie who might.

Minister Elizabeth Taragon
Civillian Morraj
Civillian Secran
Civillian Nivaali

The Mission;

Main Objectives

  • Hunt down the Matriarch Wolf Completed
  • Avoid Frostwolf Orcs Failed
  • Avoid Iron Horde Orcs Completed
  • Avoid Garn/Wolf Packs Failed

Cpl Shatterstar began the mission by informing Lt Dawnweaver of an abnormally large Wolf alone in the area without a pack immediately sensed around it. After being given the details of the large creature, and in dire need of food and furs for warmth, Lieutenant Dawnweaver began organising a hunting party to track down the Wolf. Using Cpl Shatterstars druidic sense as a guide, the party came upon a ridge overlooking the Wolf and decided to split the party. With a large majority of the force in heavy plate, Cpl Shatterstar led Minister Taragon and Pyromancer Secran around the large creature to cut off its escape routes as Cpl Shatterstar would drive the Wolf towards the plated wall over the ridge.

Upon striking the Wolf, it began to dash off at incredible speeds despite its incredible size, barging over or through the plated wall and making its way further into the tundra before collapsing of blood loss down in the middle of a ravine. As the party prepared to finish their prey, a Frostwolf Shaman with a pack of Wolves in tow rounded a corner, heading towards the wailing howls of the dying beast.

The Orc proved no threat as it knelt down to cradle the dying prey. At this point, the 4th Platoon realised that they had critically wounded the Orcs companion. Attempts to intervene to save the creature were refuted by the Orc who was lost to grief and incomprehensible.

As the 4th prepared to leave the Orc to grieve, he ended his companions suffering and called upon the one who struck the blow that wounded his Wolf to engage him in Mak'Rogahn. Cpl Shatterstar reluctantly took up the challenge managing to land a flurry of piercing and slashing wounds against the Orc in a ring made from the Wolves and the 4th Platoon members. With only rocks, lava, and snow around her, Cpl Shatterstar was unable to call upon the forces of nature to aid her in the duel, and her various forms were deemed unsuitable for this martial duel. Despite having the upper hand, the Orc only grew stronger and angrier as the duel continued with his wounds doing very little to slow down the rampaging Orc.

Having her weapon snatched from her and snapped in half, the Orc succumbed to his grief and intended to take the duel of honour to further extremes by attempting to murder Cpl Shatterstar. M-Sgt. Nihilia and Civillian Nivaali managed to intervene before the fatal blow was struck resulting in the Wolf Pack diving onto the 4th Platoon members in retaliation. After a series of injuries from the Wolves, the Orc managed to regain his composure to see his Wolves being dispatched by the Damned, and so he began to withdraw. Using his Shamanic powers to aid in his escape, he managed to get out of the basin but not before being inflicted with numerous wounds.

Officer(s) Notes:

  • In addition to the Matriarch Pelt and Meats, an additional 8 Wolves have been collected, skinned, and harvested for meat.
  • Cpl Shatterstars weapon has been broken, and seems highly distraught over this. How this will effect her combat capabilities remains in question. The Orc Shaman was last seen fleeing with the other half.
  • Frostwolf Orcs may be seeking vengeance for the attack on their Wolves and Shaman. Additional security measures should be taken.
  • Private Ara had ventured out of the cave on her own after the mission claiming to be covering the 4ths tracks against M-Sgts Nihilias orders to remain with the 4th. Cpl Shatterstar has placed a Last Chancer collar upon Private Ara citing desertion, insubordination, and dissent within the ranks as her justification. Private Ara was last seen being put to sleep by Cpl Shatterstar via force, with M-Sgt Nihilia put in charge of the Detonator and Key for the Collar.

Travel through the Frozen Fields

Damned 4th [6.0.2, Frostfire Ridge] DLcqLLs

By Lieutenant Dawnweaver leadership, the Tempest set to tread across the frozen wastes, aiming to get closer to the exit of the zone. The weather was clear when the group set to move, which soon changed as light snow began to fall.

The Tempest was attacked by a Frost Worm breaking through the ice, attempting to devour the largest cluster of tremor (footsteps). Fortunately for the Tempest, the worm caught nobody. Slashing the retreating fiend on it descend back into the depths of ice, the group set to run soon after, crossing over a road with two tusks making a sort of a gate.

While hiding in a crag and thinking about a path to proceed, a Rylak beast took interest in the group. Unfortunately for the beast, the Tempest kept together as a single group and thus the beast had to fly away without a meal.

Using the cover of magical darkness, the Tempest made their way past an Orc watchtower. Several bear traps in the snow were triggered, but fortunately caught in the boots of plate-wielders. Made their way past an Orc settlement, the Tempest found their way into an area with trees, chopping off firewood to bring with them.

Setting to a Wolf's Den at the heart of the night, after some druidic 'convincing' that they were not a threat, the Tempest set to rest under a spell that took away the cold but seemed to drain the mage greatly for maintaining the spell.

Midnight Adventures
Damned 4th [6.0.2, Frostfire Ridge] Wowscr10

By the time the 157th Company Wild Tempest had been enduring the cold in the wolf den for two days, approaching a third, the hosting wolf pack grew weary and restless. Upon judgement of civilian Lady Arabella Greene, and Sergeant Nihilia The Tempest packed up and prepared to extend their stay no further. With the help of Lady Greene, the wolf pack was held at bay long enough for The Tempest to make their retreat into the harsh cold midnight winds.

Initial march in effort to find a new place to seek shelter, The Tempest endured little resistance except for the harsh winds blowing through the ranks, with Draenei civilian Avalor suffering the most unrest due to an injury sustained prior to our arrival in this frozen wasteland.

After a while of seeking, The Tempest encountered another Frost Worm like the one the other day. However this one wasn't scared off as easily, succeeding in latching onto Lady Greenes arm, severely injuring her in the process. The beast was dealt with through multiple weaponary blows from Sergeant Nihilia, Private Ferbian Gormaine, Recruit Timmy Davids and a vial of some vile contents by Recruit Tyr Featherswift. Lady Greenes wounds were attended to by Recruit Timmy Davids, before the journey ventured on.

The 157th Company Wild Tempest eventually came across an opening that Sergeant Nihilia deemed suitable for temporary stationing, closed up enough to keep us safe from potential Iron Horde scouts, with a bit of compensation for enduring the cold due to the open roof of the opening. The wounded were further attended to by Sergeant Nihilia and Recruit Timmy Davids mixture of healing expertise and medic knowledge, as The Tempest settled in for what could be a long night.

A Windy Encounter

Damned 4th [6.0.2, Frostfire Ridge] Wowscr11

The 157th Company Wild Tempest remained stationed at their previous position. After a bit of light scouting, the exit from the zone was discovered, although heavily guarded by Iron Horde, The Company set to debate means of getting out of the zone. Minister Elizabeth Taragon set her mind to gathering materials for a portal, which in unison with the depletion of wood for the fire, meant Recruit Skarain Feirand, Recruit Timmy Davids and Private Ferbian Gormaine went hunting for lumber.

Upon their return, wood was supplied to the fire that was struggling for dear life to maintain itself in the weather, as a heavy wind and thick fog began to pick up. The Company were quick to identify something as being off, as the fog thickened and approached their position at a steady pace. With the help of Recruit Skarain Feirand, their stationed opening were secured with a magical pattern to bring the unnatural winds at bay, in turn gripping The Companys men and women to the ground in a shift of gravity. Deeming that we'd be stuck here for a very long time, Sergeant Nihilia let the charge out of the place with hope to find safety.

However upon reaching the outside, the wind was still screeching through the landscape, as it was scouted in the distance what seemed the source of this unnatural wind. Upon further inspection, Lance Corporal Doowor Darkblood was nearly struck down by lightning, the elements certainly weren't happy. With much struggle, eventually a barrier were broken upon the source of the foul wind, revealing a recognizable figure, in the shape of an Orc Shaman.

Battle was engaged, as Civilian Avalor came in range to land a striking blow upon the Orc, who began to reel and struggle to maintain the fiery winds, as Private Ferbian Gormaine cleaved into the shoulder of the Orc, who eventually lost control of the wind, being carried off into the air, as a loud cry was heard from the Orc before being swept into the distance.

The Company gathered themselves back up, the weather returning almost immediately to normal. Upon further investigation, Private Ferbian Gormaine came across a Sphere covered in runes, which was later deemed to have been the source of the Orcs aided magics, for which the use to The Company is still to be seen. Further debates were carried out about means of escaping the zone with the best outcome, as 157th Company Wild Tempest settled in for yet another night in the cold wasteland.

Not According to the Plans

Damned 4th [6.0.2, Frostfire Ridge] Wowscr12

By the orders of Lieutenant Dawnweaver, the survivors of the unit set forward to the heavily guarded mountain pass with the intent to escape the frozen wastes.

The attempt was an utter failure. While avoiding to be spotted by the first watchtower, an alarm was sound the moment the soldiers ran into the open field. Fighting off Orcs and Rylak, the force turned out to be vastly superior to the Tempest in terms of numbers and the order to retreat was sound.

Lieutenant Dawnweaver charged alone to the ranks of the Iron Horde army, in order to buy the company time to escape. He was seen throw to the ground by a Rylak that land on top of him and sink it teeth into him as the Iron Horde army closed on around him.

The rest of the unit ran for their lives back to the frozen fields, hoping to lose their pursuers in the rising Blizzard. The unit however got scattered, parts of it fleeing to different directions in the chaos, and some getting utterly lost.

What is to come of the Tempest which numbers keep on dwindling and adversities continue?

Arabella, Skarain, Yavari and Morraj are separated from the main group. Ara got lost in the Blizzard. Phineas is missing (been since first few days), Elegost was last seen charge into Iron Horde army to stall them down.

Breaking the Ice

Damned 4th [6.0.2, Frostfire Ridge] SetHeight518-Frostfire-Ridge3

The 157°Unit Wild Tempest survived it's own failures thus far, but at what price?

The soldiers fled from the iron horde, chased by orcs and wolves, only to be reached and forced into a skirmish that resulted in another defeat, and more casualties. They managed to escape from their pursuers, licking their wounds in an hidden cave deep into the tundra.

From there, the morale was outright underground. Starved, wounded and with half of the unit wiped out, they had no choice but to press on. Options were discussed on the topic of leaving the frozen hell, some more controversial than others. The priority however was to seek and secure the survivors.

With the help of Corporal Raene, the unit managed to detect sergeant Phineas, enslaved by the ogres. The tempest approached the slaves, and attempted to stir a breakout. The slave's will however, was far too broken, and so the Tempest sneaked in without aid.

Far into the settlement however the recent slaves were kept , the ones still holding the light close into their hearts. It was with them that the unit managed to create a breakout that would function as a distraction for their escape, it was there that they wound their objective: Sergeant Phineas.

After a swift retreat, the unit found their new corner in which heal themselves and their officer, and from there, rest. Corporal Raene however would not give up hope, and managed to be detected by the First Regiment, much to her efforts as she made way across the sea.

The night after, the Regiment began the operation that would save the Tempest once and for all, returning them to their allies, but not quite to civilization yet.

As they made way for the deadly jungles of Gorgrond.

Welcome to the jungle

Damned 4th [6.0.2, Frostfire Ridge] Wowscr10

After being rescued by the First Regiment, the soldiers of the 157°Unit could finally rest and heal their wounds. However, they had merely traded an hell for another.

Days went on, until a Draenei by the name of Yunaara reached the camp, begging for help with rescuing her comrades. The Tempest could not turn down this plea, and proceeded to offer their blades and spells.

Upon reaching the site, a strange humanoid plant was performing a ritual on the prisoners, and sent a large beast to dispose of the alliance. However the soldiers were swift in their response and managed to both defeat the creature and capturing the humanoid plant, while securing the hostages that managed to survive the ordeal at the same time.

After their return to Highpass, Yunaara was healed from an illness caused by her captors, and laid to recover her strenght. The captured humanoid later died that night by the hand of little creatures and fire.

The day after, the company joined efforts with the Regiment once more, so that both units could leave the jungle unharmed.
